Which Chinese smartphone brands are likely to exit from the Indian market?
Present smartphone market share in India is mostly occupied (more than 50%) by the above companies i.e. Chinese and that is for a good reason — A Good price to performance ratio.
That is the sole reason why these Chinese brands ruled the Indian smartphone market but that is not the case with every brand. In the above list there are brands which have best-selling smartphones and brands which are likely to exit and brands which already exited.
From the performance of the smartphones launched by these companies here is the list of brands that are likely to exit Indian smartphone market share (In my view):
- Itel — Itel sells smartphones and featured phones. These smartphones fits in budget range category and they simply don’t provide great value.
- In my view this brand may exit from Indian market if they don’t change their strategy.
- They may sell some units in offline but in Online there are very less chances for their survival.
- 10.or (Tenor) — 2 years ago this brand launched some smartphones which offered great value but since then they meagerly launched any smartphone. It seems like even this brand left the market.
- Coolpad and LeEco — 3–4 years ago these brands launched smartphones which were in the best-selling list but today we have no idea why they are not launching any smartphones. It’s been a long time since a smartphone launch.
- Gionee and Zopo mobile — Similar to other brands even these brands didn’t make a mark in the market share but Zopo is still functional in the Indian market.
- That might not continue too long maybe in the offline market and with people who are not educated about smartphones but not in online.
- Some sources say that Gionee is bankrupt which is sold to Karbonn mobiles.
- Lenovo — Lenovo was once a top-selling brand in India but that was 3 years ago. Since then they launched 2 or 3 smartphones.
- Once a top seller is now almost non-existent (We have no idea why they aren’t launching smartphones in India).
- Its subsidiary, Motorola is fairly doing well.
- Huawei/Honor — In the present market these smartphone brands are non-existent due to the ban imposed by the USA government. In my view, as soon as this ban is removed these brands can regain their market share quickly.
In the above list I mentioned the smartphone brands which may exit from the Indian market. It doesn’t mean that it is about to happen but that is what the road to future looks like based on their performance in the market.
Another important point is Offline market. My consideration is the Online market and most non-popular brands in the above list have a good market share in the Offline market and it might continue for some time but in Online market share these brands are already far behind and may lag enough to their extinction.
