How do smartphones in China survive without Google services?
Android was initially released in 2008, which went on to become the most popular OS in the world but before that Google was born in 1998 which was a search engine in the early days and later became the most popular ad agency.
That is the reason why Google is not allowed in China.
What?
Before that let’s know something about Google.
We all know, it is a search engine but how does it earn money?
When we search for something we get results then we go through some websites and there we see ads, right? (Apart from that they have other businesses too).
- The ads, which we see in the blogs are not chosen randomly they are targeted and displayed as per your previous search results.
- That means they have a good amount of information about us and our preferences.
This is what Chinese government doesn’t like — collecting their peoples sensitive information and Therefore Google is not allowed in China and another one………….. Facebook as well.
How people in China use their smartphone without Google services?
Is Google chrome the only browser in the world?
Is Google Maps the only online maps available?
Is Gmail the only email service provider?
NO, right?
First they banned the Google services in their country and then they got so many other options.
They have every other alternative for Google services and that is how it works there.
Some of the Alternatives for popular services:
- In place of Google they have Baidu search engine.
- In place of Google Maps they use Baidu Maps and Gaode Maps.
- They use Toudou Youku in place of YouTube.
- They use Yahoo Mail in place of Gmail.
- They use Bing Translate in place of Google Translate.
- They use App stores from Qihoo or Baidu or Tencent in place of Google Play store.
- Apart from these they have alternatives for other popular applications as well. For Example: QQ Music instead of Spotify.
- Xiaohongshu instead of Instagram.
- WeChat or Line instead of WhatsApp.
- Instead of TIKTOK? It is a Chinese product, so it doesn’t have any alternative.
Do they really need Google services?
Well, if you are thinking about Android. It is an open-source program so anyone can use it and that’s the reason why there is no alternative to Android apart from IOS.
Coming to your question,
How do they survive without Google services?
They got a good amount of applications to fulfill their requirements so there’s no point of surviving without them.
