Smartphone features that are completely useless

- Cameras — Smartphones with 4 cameras is simply overkill. Out of those, 2 cameras are for depth and macro shots which are useless.
- Other smartphones can shoot macro and portrait shots without these dedicated cameras. Gcam will do that for you with a single camera.
- In my view, 3 cameras are enough — Normal, Telephoto, Wide-angle. If you really want 4 cameras then the other one which makes sense is Monochrome sensor.
- RAM — Since last year we are seeing smartphones with 12GB or 16GB of RAM. A smartphone doesn’t need RAM more than 8GB.
- In my view, even 8GB is a lot because if you open so many apps in the background it costs battery life. So brands kill apps that are running in the background.
- What will customers do with 12 or 16GB of RAM? Open all the apps in the background?
- G and T — G80T, G90T, 720G, 730G….. Did you get it?
- Brands are focusing more on gaming. Not only smartphone brands even chipset manufacturers with G and T.
- This one in particular is useless for us not for them because they are making good amount of money from this.
- Refresh rate — This is the most overrated feature out of all, which serves no purpose.
- High refresh rate displays produce smooth content but which applications support that? As of now, No major apps support high refresh rate, not even 90Hz.
- The only areas where we can experience this high RR are:
- Home screen — Scrolling app drawer, settings menu and opening apps.
- Browser — Scrolling web pages or blogs.
- Fast charging — This is subjective but according to me these fast charging tech is going overboard.
- 125W, 120W, 100W — These are the fancy numbers these days because brands now want to charge our smartphone in 15 mins or 16 mins.
- Who on this earth is soooo busy to charge a smartphone? In my view, 30W is enough because it takes just less than an hour to charge the full battery.
- Are we humans growing so impatient? So lazy?
- 100X, 120X, 100000X Zoom — Even this is subjective but what will you do by zooming 100X? I don’t think anyone will try to capture Saturn or Neptune, right? Instead why not provide a 360° wide angle camera?
