Nice question

This is something which I think most people aren’t aware of (or) most people don’t pay attention to.

Smartphones have become a part of our life, that is for sure but the important aspect is population. Our country is 2nd most populous and 4 times the USA, which is the 3rd most populous country.

That is the reason why smartphone OEM’s these days are launching too many smartphones with almost similar specifications every month (and that is the reason why I lost my interest in smartphones).

In short, these brands target people to buy smartphone by launching so many smartphones in a wide-range of categories. Later they pour in a lot of money in advertisements, celebrity endorsements, hoardings and what not. This marketing strategy is called push marketing.

Now you know why brands do this, let’s see why it is successful.

  1. Population — As I said this one plays an important role. No one in the country will buy a smartphone on a single day or two, people buy smartphones every day and there will be people who want to change their smartphone.
  2. Marketing — These brands target the people who want to buy or buying a smartphone by marketing but every company has smartphones then what’s the difference. The difference here is “NEW and LATEST”.
  3. Strategy — These brands launch smartphones very often or every month and market in such a way that people think that these smartphones are “NEW and LATEST” but in reality they are no different from other models.
  4. Knowledge — Not everyone has knowledge about smartphones because they may not be interested or may haven’t paid any attention to these. So brand’s marketing and hype will definitely work here.

I don’t want to name those brands because you will definitely identify them yourself if you’ve read what I wrote above.

At last, don’t fall for these brands marketing because you may waste your hard-earned precious money. Instead, use it wisely. On a personal note, I’ve been using my present smartphone since 3 1/2 years but still most of my work is done without hesitation.

I’ve mentioned that because I’ve seen a survey by Corning where it is reveled that 41% of people buy new smartphones because a new smartphone arrival. That is the strategy applied by these brands and I think these days most brands are after this.
