Flash sale!
It is one of those words that most people are excited about because brands advertise their products with terms — 50% Free, 100% OFF, etc. but simultaneously other people including Tech enthusiasts don’t like flash sales because due to the heavy competition we never know if we’ll get the product that we want.
Did you ever think why smartphone brands conduct flash sales?
No?
Then read this article, here I’ve listed out all the reasons on
“why companies conduct flash sales?”
There are mainly 2 reasons for flash sales:
- Supply — If the company has limited stocks for any reason then they conduct flash sales.
- Example: Recently OnePlus conducted flash sale for OnePlus 8 series because of the Covid issues they couldn’t keep up with the demand.
- Demand — If the company is not confident about the sale or if they feel the demand is less for the product then they conduct flash sales:
- To create the demand for the product by advertisements.
- To make sure that they don’t run into losses due to extra-manufactured units, especially if the product is not-so-great.
- Example: Realme, Xiaomi, Honor, etc. flash sales.
We see the same smartphone will be in Open sale after some flash sales and the reasons behind that are:
- Supply — If they can manufacture units that meet the demand then they bring that product to open sale.
- Demand — Brands opt for open sale after seeing the performance in flash sales if they are confident about the product.
- Inventory — If the manufactured units are left in the inventory then — Open sale.
