I think Yes.

If we look closely at the present smartphone market, then we can see that most smartphones are same (specs). Now everything seems normal, i.e. Design and specs because there isn’t much difference between 2 smartphones except branding.

Even smartphone brands are launching same smartphones with slightly different specs and copied design every now and then. Some do that every month.

Last 3–4 years was very exciting because brands were coming up with new concepts and innovations. For Example: Notch and Full screen displays, Camera setup, Pop-up mechanism, sound on display, etc.

But now it isn’t exciting any more, at least for me. I still remember how excited I was when I saw the rumored pictures of the iPhone X (2017) but now every smartphone seems same i.e. Specs and design. There is nothing to be excited about except few — Under-display camera.

Are you excited about any smartphone launch?

(Before) Me — Yes.

(Now) Me — Yes, I was.

I don’t mean that there is no innovation going on, there are few things but they are very few and not-so-exciting things. This is very subjective, your thoughts may not match with mine, I respect that.

Will the folding smartphone charm the customers?

Yes, I think brands can attract customers with these smartphones — Galaxy Fold or Z fold or Razr and they can create new normal by launching at low prices (lower than the present) and that will be the new trend.

Most importantly they will replace the present smartphones (which is becoming dated in terms of design). I personally love to buy one of these. I know there are few cons with these but don’t forget it is the case with everything.

At last, Yes folding smartphones will attract people and later it can become more significant choice for customers (not soon) if the pricing is good. I don’t expect this to happen soon but it may happen in the future considering the enthusiasm shown by the people towards the smartphones.

Note:-

  1. This answer is purely based on my opinion as I’ve been following this for a long time but your opinion might not match with mine, I respect that. I hope the same.
  2. I’m not prophesying that Folding phones will be the future, it is just my viewpoint.
